According to science, the third Monday of the year, which is tomorrow, is the most depressing day of the year. I dunno about that, but I do know that during the winter I feel a lot more drained and gloomier than in the summer. I hate the cold, I hate the endless grey skies, I hate the rain, and I hate the fact that it gets dark so early. One of the things that always lift my mood though, is looking at photos of cute animals. I mean, c'mon! Who doesn't like bunnies, cats or puppies?

picspammy challenge: picspam something you never have before! I rarely watch anime and don't consider myself an anime fan or anything, but I loved Death Note so I figured I'd give picspamming it a try. There are spoilers here but I guess that if you don't know the context it doesn't give too much away. Enjoy!

You think this looks like one of those really shitty straight-to-dvd action movies about real-life gaming? That's what I thought too, until I saw the trailer. IT WILL BE EPIC. I swear, I'm more excited for this than I was for Star Trek, Watchmen and Transformers 2 (shut up I am allowed to like that movie) combined (not really, but you get my point). MICHAEL C HALL Y'ALL. I hope this gets an IMAX release. Also I am highly amused by the fact that Sam Witwer is in this as a social worker BECAUSE I CAN'T NOT THINK OF HIM AS CRASHDOWN. Apparently, Milo Ventimiglia is in this too, playing a character called Rick Rape (idek) but I haven't spotted him in the trailer :/
I'd say something about Gerard Butler probably having a contract that states he has to be half-naked in every movie he's in, but that would be lame.

I haven't seen the movie yet and I have no idea if this is going to be released in regular movie theaters. The UK gets it July 17th, and according to the IMDb boards it's being released in The Netherlands August 20th. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal get it July 3rd, other Canadian cities around July 10th. I believe there's a limited US release, according to Wiki "the film will be receiving wide release across the United States on 3 July 2009 and 10 July 2009" , but I have seen zero advertising for this so idk. I love the trailer and Sam Rockwell is in it so I hope it gets the recognition it deserves!

Oz 1x1 picspam
Nov. 5th, 2008 08:28 pmDid this for the current picspammy challenge. I chose the pilot of Oz because after a few minutes of watching the show, I'd already fallen in love with it. Oz isn't exactly the most beautiful show ever (cinematographically speaking) and the fact that this episode aired in 1997 doesn't help prettyfing the caps either. Anyway, this episode is great because it introduces a character that you think is going to be important for the rest of the series, and then he dies a horrible death and you realize that no one in Oz is safe. That uncertainty is one of the things that make this show great. It's hard to get attached to characters that can die any minute, but some of them, you just can't help but love.
( In Oz, the guards lock the cages and walk away and the predators rise, take control, and make the rules. )
